My article in "FILM"

Film58_200_2 Months ago, I mentioned in a blog that I had written an article for The Danish Film Institue's magazine "FILM". And now, it's out ! If you want to read it, luckily, it is also online. You can check it out here (In Danish). I would really appreciate it if you read it and gave me some feedback since it's the first time I've ever written something for an established magazine. As you probably understand, I'm super excited about it!

Is your firm too serious to party?

No firm is!
I mean, up until this very friday, my relationship with everyone here was good and amicable. But nothing more than that. That isn't bad. Not at all. It's good mannered work-ethic.
However, after our party, it just seems that these people now are beyond colleagues for me. They're, like, grown-up friends ! And I definitely think that it shakes together a company to do something else but work together. Of course, all you smart PR-People out there already knew this. But hey, I'm just sharing my point of view here!
So, let your hair down and shake it up with the person in the cubicle next to you!

The revolution that is " :-) "

So, my friends and I landed in heated discussion the other day. Is the infamous smiley a good or a bad thing. Let me clarify the arguments:
Pro Smiley:
The Smiley let's us get our message across easily, setting the tone in written language, which can often be hard. Example: Nikolaj, my dear boss, could write this to me 'Emma, it's been a while since we've seen a blog entry from you :-)'
Or he could say: 'Emma, it's been a while since we've seen a blog entry from you'
I think it's rather clear to everyone that the latter would be perceived as slightly angry, and definitely with a bit more 'bite' than the first one. So far, so good.
However, my friends had some arguments looking farther into the future than the above. Here's what they said: The use of smileys makes us simplify our language, slowly but safely making us worse and worse at expressing our emotions through concise writing. And thereby making our glorious language (which, it seems, is already to some extent disappearing before our eyes due to lack of respect from the Danish language council who keeps trying to 'renew' the spelling rules. If a smiley could explain how I feel towards this, it would look like this :-( )
So, to sum things up, are smileys helping us, or making our written language more lacklustre than it has ever been?
(A quick anecdote, a friend of mine used smileys in his essay to make his point come across more clearly. Never in my life have I seen my 60 year old teacher so confused "But, dear, what is the point of the semicolon and the parentheses?")

(A last note: Blog is not a word accepted in the English dictionary. Isn’t it about time? I mean, if bootylicious is in it, then why not blog? Ah well, modern times!)

Concerts in Tivoli!

So, one of the things i really connect with summer is concerts on Plænen in Tivoli, Copenhagen. And tonights my first one this year! (It's Moi Caprice playing, and they're awesome ! You should come check it out if you've got the time :) )
Anyway, it struck me that, one of the things that's great about Tivoli is that it's classic, without becoming old-people-ish. An example: This year, there are concerts on Plænen that I want to see, and other concerts that my mother want to see equally as much. And both of us can go there without feeling either too young, or too old to be there. This may seem obvious, but it's actually a balance hardly achieved by anyone else! No matter who played there, my mom would never go to Vega. Period. But Tivoli, well, if something has been awesome for 200 years, it's just still awesome!

Link of the day!

Hi!
I just discovered this awesome site:

www.pandora.com

If you, like me, love to get to know new bands (and stun your friends with your amazing musical knowledge) this is the site for you!
It's very simple to use. You just type in the name of your favourite band or artist, and it finds similar bands or artists. And I've been quite amazed by this. Found the coolest bands! Even unsigned, underground bands are featured in the machine. This is really cool ! It's also possible to sign up, and have the site save the artists you've found so you can show 'em to your friends after you've found them!
Hope you find loads of new bands you'll come to love!
Have a nice weekend!

Berlin. Die schönste Stadt der Welt!

So, I spent a couple of days in Berlin with my class. God, why am I living in Copenhagen I ask myself? It's no wonder so many creative people are 'fleeing' this city to go live in Berlin. Because never have I been in a city quite like that. Everywhere you go, creative stuff going on. Concerts, art, street art, photography etc. etc. A truly cool city.
One of the really awesome (or "spitze", as on would say in Berlin) things we saw, was this street sign pictured under. As Nikolaj mentioned earlier on the blog, there has been huge demonstations and whatnot, concerning 'Ungdomshuset' on Jagtvej 69. So, here I am, in the middle of Berlin. And what do I see? A 'Jagtvej'-sticker on the normal street sign. (As pictured below) Later, we were told that there had been massive demonstrations in Berlin as well, but I still thought this was kinda cool.
But, alas, the house is no more.
Below is some pictures of other cool stuff me and my homies saw in Berlin. Once again, this is a really, realle 'spitze' city, so if you ever, EVER get the chance to go there - DO ! I assure you, it's not like anywhere you've ever been before, that's for sure.
Hope y'all are doing great and enjoying spring!

Ps. I wrote an article in The Danish Film Institutes magazine called 'Film'. It's in the new number, which comes out on 30 March. It's on YouTube and media on the internet in general. So, if you want to check it out, that would be really, really cool ! Remember the name: Emma Holten ;)

Hi! I'm Emma!

Hi there !
I'm Emma and I've been working here for quite some time now. About a month, I think. And Nicolaj has really been on my back about bloggin', so now I'm doing it!
My work here at Stagis is really varied, which is probably the best thing about it. I get to do all kinds of different stuff everytime I'm here, so that's really cool. I do not, however, have much to compare with since this is my first job. EVER! (I remember in my interview Nicolai said 'Wow, born 1991! That's so late!) So as you can probably figure out, I'm not that old.. yet!
I'm really into design and stuff like that, so it's really cool that I can work here where there's visually awesome stuff all around me!
See? This is the thing about blogging. I'm so scared to begin to bore you! So I think I'll leave it at this, and let you get some rest ;). Anyway, nice meeting you all! (or something like that)
